From social media posts to Valentine cards, heart-shaped photos are always popular. In this easy to follow photography project, Gavin Hoey will show you how to create colorful patterned photos using homemade paper hearts.
Gavin starts at the very beginning with how to make paper hearts using printer paper. After that, he moves on to lighting.
In the first set up, Gavin uses a softbox at different heights to control the contrast on the hearts but still give gentle graduated shadows. In the second lighting set up, Gavin lights the paper hearts from below and has simple, in-camera settings tweak to add some amazing color. Lastly, it’s into Photoshop for a quick bit of cloning and healing.
