It can be easy to get caught up in the annoyances of professional obligations or to simply grow bored or tired of photography from time to time, which is when it is important to remember why you should be taking photos in the first place. This thought-provoking video discusses why.
Coming to you from James Popsys, this fantastic video discusses why you should be taking photos. Just the act of taking photos can be really therapeutic, as it often forces you to get out of the house a bit, exercise, and engage your creativity, which I typically find quite meditative and enjoyable. But beyond that, the photos we create, if even only for our own portfolios, demarcate chapters of our life and serve as visual primers for our memory and experiences, allowing us to clearly construct visual narratives of who we are, what matters to us, and where we come from. In my case, the thing I am most thankful for from my childhood is simply having a large box of prints. I often page through them and am reminded of things I would have otherwise forgotten, and that’s a great gift to have.
