New Nikon Z6 II and Z7 II mirrorless cameras confirmed for October 14: “The Next Chapter”


As previously reported, Nikon will announce two new mirrorless cameras (Z6 II and Z7 II) on October 14. From Explora:

Nikon Z shooters, prepare for “The Next Chapter.” Nikon is set to release the Z 6 II and Z 7 II full-frame mirrorless cameras on October 14, which will both succeed the immensely popular and well-regarded first-gen Z 6 and Z 7 cameras. Nikon has yet to give any details on these new cameras, so sign up for automatic notifications via the individual product pages and then check back on 10/14/2020 at 12:00 a.m. EDT for complete information on what these new cameras will bring to the table.

Here are the rumored specifications from NikonRumors:

  • Incremental update to the current Z6/Z7 models
  • The camera shape is almost the same as Z6/Z7
  • Same sensor as in the Z6/Z7
  • Same EVF as Z6/Z7 (previous rumors indicated EVF with 5.76 million dots, the current Z6/Z7 have EVF with 3.69 million dots)

  • Dual EXPEED processor
  • Will use the new Nikon EN-EL15c battery
  • USB power
  • Dual memory card slots: CFexpress and SD (XQD/CFX type B, SD-UHS-II)
  • Faster frame rate

  • 4k 60p video
  • More new video features
  • Improved user interface
  • Support for vertical grip with release button/controls (optional accessory)
  • Improved functionality expected with firmware update after release
  • The expected announcement is around October
  • The Nikon Z6s will be the last Nikon camera with a 24MP sensor
